Here is a great idea to make as christmas gifts. These pillows were made from placemats. They can be used every year and look very festive. I used a cotton fabric on the back. You just sew rights sides and leave an opening about 4 " in the seam, turn right side out and stuff with polyester fiber fill, then sew the open by hand.

Hi there!
I love your idea of using place mats to make throw pillows! I want to try that sometime soon...now for some pretty place mats! :)
Your blog looks so fun! I will be back for sure! :) I hope you had a good Thanksgiving! :)
They are adorable! Great idea. :)
Great idea! I enjoy reading your blog Deb :)
I also use napkins to make covers for pillows. I take one napkin and cut it in half and sew the two napkins together with the one cut in half turned so the seamed edges are over laping alittle. That way you can just slip your old pillow in and have a different cover for each season. I have also used the placemat for pillows. Great idea. Love your blog!!! Deanie
Where are you getting such cute place mats??
Great idea!
